Records of births, deaths, and marriages from Ulster County churches, cemeteries, newspapers, and census records including microfilm copies of original state and federal censuses with typescripts and indexes for most, 1810 and 1850-1880; microfilm copies and typescript copies of original church records (Dutch Reformed, Lutheran, Methodist, Episcopal, Baptist, Society of Friends, and others) throughout the county with the exception of Mt. Tremper and Rosendale, 1708-1953; typescripts of cemetery records and tombstone inscriptions from the Highland, Wiltwyck, Pine Hill, Montrepose, Rosendale, Modena, and other cemeteries; transcripts of Ulster County naturalizations taken from official records, 1832-1903; and transcripts of birth, death, and marriage information from newspapers in Kingston and Saugerties. Sources outside Ulster County include microfilm copies of censuses for Delaware County towns of Andes, Colchester, Middletown, and Roxbury, 1850-1880; microfilm copy of the original records of the First Baptist Church of Gardner, Mass.; and transcripts of the Shaver Hollow Cemetery records, Delaware County.

The Society of Friends (or 'Quakers') was formed by George Fox (1624-1691), a shoemaker from Nottingham. In the 1640s Fox travelled throughout England delivering sermons in which he argued that individuals could have direct access to God without the need for churches, priests or other aspects of the established Church.
